During these uncertain times with COVID-19, you might have had your 2020 goals already planned and have placed a halt on your ventures. 2020 is the year of entrepreneurship, online businesses, and spiritual awakening! Now more than ever, millennials are finding opportunities to start businesses and break generational curses especially minorities. Many of us, especially those that are first-generation, have experienced hardship like no other. To take those hardships and transform them into something positive, such as getting an education or starting a business, takes a lot of courage, mental strength, and emotional intelligence.
As a first-gen, your family could be really struggling at this moment. How do you stay encouraged? How do you keep your eyes on the prize? How do you stay afloat when others around you do not understand? If you find it difficult to answer these questions, you might be in need of a stronger support system. Don’t be afraid to look for support from strangers. First-gen students have a more difficult time because of the lack of familial support or lack of resources.
That’s where the College4U “Chat4U” feature comes into play. The app is here to be a platform for individuals from all walks of life that are looking to connect with other like-minded individuals. Having a solid support system in college or while creating a business is essential. Not sure how to go about this? Join Facebook groups, join local organizations, befriend other college students or entrepreneurs on social media. Support is out there. We just have to be willing to accept it from those that we might not expect are giving it.
Lastly, the journey may be different. Your goals may have shifted but perseverance is important now more than ever. Don’t be discouraged. Success is still feasible!
